Realtors® Support Pam Patenaude Nomination for HUD Deputy Secretary

WASHINGTON (April 28, 2017) — The Trump administration today announced the nomination of Pam Patenaude as deputy secretary. Following is a statement from NAR President William E. Brown on the nomination:

“The National Association of Realtors® commends the Trump administration for its nomination of Pam Patenaude for the position of deputy secretary.

“Pam’s extensive and strong background in real estate and housing will be an asset, and NAR has long enjoyed a strong relationship with Pam working on and advancing... Read More

Pending Home Sales Dip 0.8% in March

WASHINGTON (April 27, 2017) — Pending home sales in March maintained their recent high level, but momentum slackened slightly in most of the country as dearth supply weighed on activity, according to the National Association of Realtors®. Only the South saw an uptick in contract signings last month.

The Pending Home Sales Index,*www.nar.realtor/topics/pending-home-sales, a forward-looking indicator based on contract signings, declined 0.8 percent to 111.4 in March from 112.3 in February. Despite... Read More

Homeownership in the Crosshairs of Latest Tax Plan, Say Realtors®

WASHINGTON (April 26, 2017) – Major reforms are needed to lower tax rates and simplify the tax code, but that shouldn’t come at the expense of current and prospective homeowners. That’s according to National Association of Realtors® President William E. Brown, a second-generation Realtor® from Alamo, California and founder of Investment Properties.

Brown said that while the President’s tax proposal released today is well-intentioned, it’s a non-starter for homeowners and real estate professionals who see the... Read More

NAR: Trump tax plan 'well-intentioned' but 'non-starter'

While backing major tax reforms, NAR fears that a proposal to double the current standard deduction would "effectively nullify the current tax benefits of owning a home" if most owners stop filling out the IRS long form.

Pending home sales dip 0.8% in March

Even with a slight dip, NAR's home sales index was at its the third-highest level over the past year; and the South, which includes Fla., saw an increase.

Testimonials

Your agent, Susan Ledbetter was extremely helpful to us and remarkably efficient in the recent sale of our condominium. When my mother died earlier this year, I was faced with the daunting and emotionally difficult task of selling her condominium in Pembroke Pines, Florida. I live in New York City and had a lot of anxiety about a long-distance sale. I interviewed a few real estate agents when I was in Florida for one day and chose Susan because she seemed well organized and straight forward. What a lucky choice! Susan guided my wife and me through the entire process without a bit of trouble. At every turn she demonstrated excellent judgment about the market and what needed to be done to sell our property quickly for our asking price. She kept on top of the entire process and regularly maintained communication with us. Thanks for everything, Susan. Charles Brover
Thank you so much for all your help. We really appreciate it! It feels strange to buy a house that we have not seen, but it is great having someone you trust to take care of things. Please extend our "thank you" to your husband, and to Ed also. I'm nervous and will be glad when 5/12 is over. Bob and Brenda
Thank you so much for everything you did. You went the extra mile that is for sure! Brenda
Susan, thank you for being there for me and my family. You answered all my calls, no matter what time of day. You helped me understand the process of selling my home, and you did everything you said you would do. If I ever sell or buy another house, I will be calling you - that's a promise! Carol
